DDSquare Update: Face Lift

September 24, 07 by You Teck

To all our dear readers, a big thanks for your continual support and as you’ve already noticed, I’ve just changed our blog theme into something more colorful and probably more lively looking as well.

The only easy thing about the new theme is the unzip and upload part and boy, I can tell you the most irritating part was customizing the theme to fit for IE. It took me a good couple of  hours(probably my lack of css knowledge) to set it up to for IE viewing as whatever that works in firebox, IE is probably going have a little trouble with it.

Never the less, I hate to leave a job half done and I would do whatever it takes to make it work. Thus, the end result here.

The other news would be the downsizing of our team from 3 to a current of 2. Due to some personal issue, one of our close friend won’t be blogging over at DDSquare anymore and I wish him all the best for the future.

So, how do you feel about our current theme, is it good, suit our site well or is it too colorful for your liking? We would greatly appreciate if you can leave your valuable comments. Thanks!

007 spycam!

September 20, 07 by Alvin

Next time you receive a letter, you may have to make sure that the stamp on it doesn’t have anything electronic wirings on it. Else you may find dumb clips of you making a fool out of yourself while opening the letter.

All these are made possible with the creation of the new spycam known as CameraChip. Despite the small size (3.2mm) it is still able to capture vids at a low resolution of 328 X 500 and can automatically controlled color saturation, exposure and gain. It is powered by a 3.3V DC power supply.

Well, i guess i better crash-darken the hotel room before i start to perform any ‘adult act’ next time. lol

Shifting Folders

September 11, 07 by You Teck

Hi guys, we’ll be suffering from a bit of inactivity for the time being because we’re doing some major shifting of our servers and files. The main idea is our blog will move to the main domain while our shop will be relocated somewhere else.

All in all, we’ve not RIP yet and we’ll be back real soon. Stay tune….

Former Alienware developer invades the customized-PC space

September 02, 07 by Alvin

The wacky Web 2.0 train has just collided with the computer hardware industry.

The idea of user-generated PCs isn’t groundbreaking, but the level of creative control that buyers have is broadening. Take NVousPC, for instance (after you’ve figured out how to pronounce it, of course. Take your time). The new company, launched today, hopes to cash in on consumers who want to exercise complete control over the appearance of their notebooks.

The president and co-founder of NVousPC is former Alienware product development engineer Oscar Zapata. He escaped from his former employer a week before the company was snapped up by Dell. His new company is hoping to cash in on to the whole “PC as fashion accessory” trend by offering ubercustomization. So the boring black notebook gets a makeover, but it’s more Pimp My Ride than What Not To Wear.

NVous customers can configure a notebook online, then upload images that can be plastered on the lid. The panels can also be painted any color. Seriously.

Not only can you choose sea-green or purple stripes, you can get really silly with glow-in-the-dark, pearl and something Zapata calls “color shifting.” NVous also lets customers work with an in-house designer to fine-tune the look. Alternatively, you can send in your current notebook for a custom paint job, too.
