If you’re out for a little fun and perhaps give a little scare to your friends, Bandai’s newest high-tech toy, the Hex Bug cockroach robot toy might tickle your interest.

The translucent robot is modeled right after a real cockroach with 6 legs and 2 feelers which I think is its touch sensor for changing directions when it hits a wall. Other features include a micro monitor that makes it vibrate like a cell phone, and a mic sensor that lets it scuttle away when you make loud noises, creepy.
Apart from the standard cockroach design, you man modify the hex bug into ladybug lookalike with its body kit. This roach will be launching in mid-September and it will retails for $15 USD each.

There’s so much talk about energy saving technology these days and it seems like the toys industry have caught a bit of the bug as well.

Presenting the DIY wind power generator set from Tamiya and Loopwing, and yes, Tamiya, the toy car manufacturer that have provided so many entertaining motor toy cars for the young boys have decided to go the energy saving ways (At least in this instance.)
It should take you around 30mins to assemble this kit and maybe less if you’re a tech geeks. The kit consists of 2 gears, a capacitor, the steering and the windmill charging station. Just place the device where there’s wind and this little mean machine will get around 3.5 hours of running time per 5 minutes charge.
Please note that the wind speed have to be around 5mi/sec wind as well and for better performance, try the roof. I mean, if it’s like start stop wind, it will probably take longer to charge.
This set is priced at $30 or $46 SGD and you should get a translator to help you get around Tamiya online store should you decide to get one.
